Dorset County Council serves a population of 400,000 and covers a large area of the South Western England. A drive to improve efficiency, “Fit for The Future”, identified a need to make procurement more effective & efficient and able to drive substantial cost reduction so a procurement training program was established.
Project Aim:
- Develop a more commercial approach to cost reduction in specific spend categories
- Engage stakeholders and understand business needs
- Improve customer (tax payer) satisfaction
Outcome:
- Current skill level was assessed via online tool and gaps were identified and addressed
- Category Management implemented and specific saving opportunities identified
- Stakeholder satisfaction improvements made leading to more transparent working
